One Month Old!

Well, I was just going through is socks to kinda put all the same colored ones in the same section. I had his caps in the same place. I came across the cap he wore from the nursery at the hospital. I'm kinda emotional right now since I saw that. It reminded me I needed to post. I really can't believe how the time has passed. Before I know it, I'll have to go back to work and not be able to hold him when ever I want to. I get frustrated when I can't sleep or when he cries and I don't know what he wants. I have to take Tylenol at least once a day. I hold him close to try to settle him down. I guess the screaming in my ear brings the headache on. Or possibly it's not getting no more that 4 hours of restful sleep at a time. But, you know what...I wouldn't trade it for the world. I really have to remember that when his in the middle of a crying spell. I don't know if I get more frustrated at him or myself for not knowing what to do. Everyone told me to cherish these first weeks because they go by so quick. I think I basically have done that. But, I kept thinking to myself. Yeah right, cherish the screaming moments because I'll miss them. But, you know what, that's not what I remember. I remember him looking up at me with those big blue eyes in the middle of the night when I try to get him to go to sleep. How he depended on me for everthing. One day he won't want to be held like that.

He is really an amazing baby. I found him sucking his thumb the other day. I tried to get it on video but missed it. He turns over to his side. He's getting rolls on his legs. I see him everyday and don't notice how much he's grown. But, his NeeNee asks what we are feeding because he's growing so much. Well, he eats Mommy's milk about every 2 hours. He has grown out of some of his 0-3 month clothes. We had to get out the 3-6 month boxes last night. It makes me sad. But, his Daddy is ready for him to sit up and all that. Mommy is just not ready to let go yet.

OK, I got a pic of him sucking his thumb.

Here's his 1 month pic.

And the pic of the first outfit we noticed he grew out of.

Feedings/Sleep 3-30 to 4-15

I have been keeping track of when Colby eats. Here is the day of week, time and for how long in (). Breastfed babies are supposed to eat at least 8 times a day. I was having a problem with him being awake enough to do that at first. As you can see, that is no longer a problem. He would sometimes eat for 30 minutes at a time. Now, I can barely get him to eat for 15 minutes. I only nurse one side at a time unless he goes over 20 minutes on 1. He never empties one side. They say not to let him go over 5 hours at night without eating. Also to aim for every 2 hours during the day. I don't see a pattern to when he eats or sleeps at all. I know I have to do something about that for when I go back to work.

My Sleep Hours

Again, no pattern to this. Sometimes it takes an hour to finish a feeding and getting him to stay in his bassinet. I was curious so I started keeping track of how much sleep I get. I'm usually good enough so I don't have to take afternoon naps with him now. He usually just cat naps and wakes up hungry anyway. He doesn't sleep long enough for me to fall asleep (as soon as I lay down I hear him moving). Why? Because he will be hungry again. I'm trying to get him to eat longer so he'll sleep longer. But, sometimes eating makes him so sleepy that I can't wake him up to eat more. Of course he'll wake up in 1/2 an hour after that. Keep in mind that this is not how long I sleep. It is the times I got into bed to the time I woke up to feed him. So, it takes me about 12 hrs to get about 8 hrs of sleep. There is no way I could have functioned like this before Colby. God must make it to where you don't need as much sleep after having a baby. Before I was pregnant, I'd go to bed at 10:00 and wake up at 5:45. When I was pregnant, I'd go to sleep at 8:30 and wake up at 5:45.

Thurs (4-12)- 9:30-12:45 pm
Fri- 1:30-5:15 am, 6:40-8:00 am(from 9:30 Pm to 8:00 am= 8hrs, 20 min), 9:20-10:00 am, 2:15-2:40 pm, 9:45 pm-2:15 am
Sat- 3:15-7:00 am, 8:30-9:00 am (from 9:45 pm to 9:00am=8 hrs, 45 min), 10:15 pm-12:30 am
Sun- 1:45-4:15 am , 1:45-4:15 am, 5:35-7:00 am, 9:00-10:30 (from 10:15 to 10:30=7 hrs, 40 min)
Sun night- 10:15-1:15, 1:30-3:30, 5:00-7:30, 8:00-9:00 (from 10:15 to 9:00= 8.5 hours)

Hopefully next time I post there will be more of a pattern.

First Easter

I forgot to post that he has a belly button now. His cord fell off on Good Friday.

We had lot's of family come over to visit. It was a cold rainy day so we didn't want to take him out in the weather. So, everyone came to us.

3 Weeks old

Here's Colby's 3 week old picture. We are still trying to learn eachother. One thing is for sure...he loves to get his hair washed! I think he fights his sleep sometimes. It's still hard for me to tell when he is hungry.

Here's my 3 week post partal belly. I'm down to 120 pounds. I have been able to eat a little bit more lately. Rowdy says that Colby is outside of me now. That I don't need to take belly shots.

He has been smiling since he was in the hospital. He does it more often now. Usually when he is being talked to. I got him on video smiling for a long time. It's hard to get on the regular camera while trying to see and talk to him though. Here's a couple...

Follow up appointment @ 2 1/2 weeks

Colby had an appointment on 4-10. His jaundice level was down to 9. In the hospital it was 12 and at his first appointment it was 13. So, it is really good now. I guess his complection is really dark like his Daddy and not yellow from the jaundice. Also, his weight was up to 9lbs 4oz.! I was really glad to hear that. It means that I must be doing something right with nursing. I had to nurse him in the parking lot that day. Then again on Thursday after my dentist appointment.

2 Weeks Old

I know I'm not posting much about what is going on in our daily lives now. We are really trying to work on this nursing thing. I will update when I have a chance to get into it.
Here's his 2 week pic...
I'm down to 125 lbs. My 2 week postpartum belly pic...
Compared to my 5 week shot and my 40 week 4 days shot. Still unbelievable that he fit in there!

His 2 day follow up appointment

Colby had to follow up 2 days after discharge because of his jaundice. They had to stick both feet because the first one went dry before they had enough blood. My Dr. let us go before we got the results. He said that he didn't look yellow and he thought he was better. But, they had to stick him because of protocol. He said they'd call if it was high. I haven't heard from them so it must have been good. He had lost 1 oz. He was not happy with them sticking him. Especially when it got to taking so long to get the blood.
