RSV

Colby started having a cough and leeky nose since the Friday before Christmas (Christmas was on a Tuesday). He also didn't want to eat much solids. I figured it was sinus drip and he had a bad taste in his throat. Well, he woke up every 1/2 hour the night after Christmas. Ya know his normal every couple of hours was bad enough! So, I decided to take him to the clinic the Thursday after Christmas. They heard some wheezing and asked if he had ever been on breathing treatments. I was like, no, he's only been sick twice. Once was an ear infection at 3 months. The other was a stomach thing the month before that. They gave him a breathing treatment in the clinic. I had asked the Dr. about RSV and she didn't think that was what it is because of his age and there were no other cases around here that she knew of. Well, the respiratory theripist that gave the treatment suggested that he be checked for it. She wrote me Rxs for the nebulizer and two meds for it, an antiobiotic for his ear infections and one for his leeky nose. She sent me to social services anout the nebulizer. She called me while I was there and the RSV test came back positive. All I could think was how she wasn't even gonna do it. She said that the treatment was the same for that and reactive airway disease whinch the diagnosed him with origionally. I called the sitter and she said he could still go because it wasn't contagous. I called the Dr. and she said that if it was only older kids there, it would be OK. But, if she had infants that caught it, it could be serious and it was ver contagious. That they put them in isolation for it. So, chances are that Colby caught it from daycare. The sitter said she didn't know of anyone having it. Just that her daughter had it when she was a baby. I read about babies not liking the treatments. I didn't use a mask for Colby and he didn't seem to mind doing it. He actually plays with it. They said I could use a mask. But, it wasn't necessary. The Dr. said that she'd keep him out of daycare for the rest of the week. She said to keep him on the treatments till he stops coughing. So, I don't know how long to expect it to be. I didn't even notice the wheezing. I was just tired of chasing after him with a Kleenx! I tell ya, when Colby gets sick, he doesn't play around.

He weighed 18 lbs 6 oz at his appointment. But, I think he had lost some weight due to not eating very much because he was sick.

Update- I kept him on the treatments and other medicines for 10 days. It wasn't bad at all.

Colby's 1st Christmas

Rowdy was working days for Christmas day. We went to his Mom's Christmas Eve to exchange gifts.

After we got home, we took pictures of him in one of his Christmas outfits.

Here's his Baby's 1st Christmas PJ's.

Christmas Day at Grammy's

Thanksgiving

Rowdy was was working for Thanksgiving. Colby and I went to Jenny's house.

Carroll had to give him a turkey leg.

He also got a present. This was a preview for Christmas and the first present he ever attempted to open. He liked the toy and the paper.

He wasn't too interested in eating his solids that day.

Santa

Grammy got to babysit him and she took him to see Santa. He wasn't scared or excited. She said he was just looking at the lights.

8 Months old

How time flies! Here he is at 8 months old. He likes to play with blankets. We were playing peek-a-boo with one. We's let it go over his face and he's crack up.

His new thing is chewing on tags. I think he looks like a mechanic in this one.
